I photographed this dragonfly at Kanapaha Botanical Gardens in Gainesville, Florida.
It had settled at the very end of a stem, balanced in that small space between being still and taking flight. Its wings were open, its body poised, and for a moment it seemed as though it could leave at any second.
That is what stayed with me about this photograph. Not the flight itself, but the moment just before it.
At the Edge of Flight captures that brief pause when something can remain exactly where it is or choose to move on.
We do take special requests for glass, metal, and wood.
